Hi All
I have just finished making a 24 drawer tower. It was something that I thought I could make as an advent calendar but as I haven't got any christmas paper here I had to use what I have got. I started by making 24 matchboxes.............
I stuck them together is stacks of 6 and arranged them in a square..................
I stuck them to a chipboard base and then put a lid on to stabilise them and I made some tabs to glue the sides of the matchboxes to the inside of the drawer. That gave it strength and the I covered the insides of the drawers and put little ribbon pulls on the drawer fronts so that the drawers were easy to open.............
Completed box................
These are a couple of side views.........
And finally the lid......................
I made my matchboxes to measure 2"x3"x1" so I cut my drawer paper to 4"x5" and scored 1" in on all sides. My outer matchboxes that made the recepticle for the drawer were cut at 3"x9" and scored at 1/2", 1 5/8, 4 6/8 and 5 7/8. That gives you 1/2" overlap to glue down and complete the recepticle for the drawer. I glued the recepticles together in stacks of 6.
I hope this helps. With some of the offcuts from the bigger size 24 drawer stack I made a smaller 24 drawer stack and will post photos when I am done.
